Our Alumni and Friends
Our alumni and friends: The College has a tremendous asset in its alumni and friends. One of the exciting activities I have been engaged with over the last six months has been the development and implementation of a plan by the executive committee of the Dean’s Society led by Zane Gibbs and Brooks Smith. This plan has three really important components: (1) Communication of the College with alumni and students; (2) Engaging our alumni with our students to enhance their educational experience; and (3) Fundraising to build excellence in the College and to support our students. This special group of dedicated alumni and friends has energized me as a Dean. You will be hearing more from the Dean’s Society as this year progresses.
The College is also in the process of hiring a director of communications. We simply must get the message out of the great things that we are doing!
Additionally, I am very committed to get our alumni and friends engaged with our students to act as role models for career and life possibilities. One of the exciting ideas from the Dean’s Society is bringing together some of our talented alumni entrepreneurs to engage our students. As I mentioned earlier, many students in the College have grit and are not afraid to be wrong. We want to instill in them strong communication skills, cultural competency, and the ability to think critically and independently. These are ingredients that make successful entrepreneurs, and our entrepreneurial alumni have agreed with me on that assessment.
