Commencement

Female students at commencement

Commencement is a time to celebrate your accomplishments at VCU and the College of Humanities and Sciences. But before that day arrives, you have to submit your application for graduation and ensure you’ve met the requirements for a degree.

Review the Records and Registration FAQ on graduation and commencement for answers to your questions on completing your application, designating dual degrees and graduating with honors. The Graduate School also provides information specifically for graduate students on submitting your application and the graduation process.

As a student in the College, you’ll not only be able to attend the universitywide Commencement ceremony, but also participate in celebrations for the College and your academic department. Following Commencement, the College hosts a graduation reception for graduates and their families. Additionally, the College hosts a number of diploma ceremonies in various locations where graduates receive their diplomas.
