Dr. John E. Anderson earned his Ph.D. in environmental biology in 1996 from George Mason University, focusing his dissertation work on the photobiology of microbial precipitates associated with acid mine drainage. He has worked for over 15 years in remote sensing using reflectance and fluorescence spectroscopy to accomplish a wide range of research in wetlands and aquatic environments. His current work involves the application of imaging and non-imaging fluorescence to detect pathogens and genetically engineered plants with expressing protein-based chromophores. His research customers include federal and state agencies as well as industry. Anderson has authored over 20 peer-reviewed papers and three book chapters in the field of photobiology and remote sensing.
