Research interests:
Maize and Drosophila genetics and molecular biology
Funding for research has been provided by:
National Science Foundation
United States Department of Agriculture
Jeffress Memorial Trust Foundation

Graduate student projects include:

  • Identification and analysis of genes involved in homologous recombination in maize.
  • Characterization of transposon-induced DNA repair at the maize r1 locus.
  • Identification of the basis for loss of hobo-induced genetic instability in the Drosophila Notch locus.
  • Molecular-genetic analysis of loss of canalization at the maize r1 locus.

Courses currently teaching:
Genetics (BIOL 310)
Molecular Genetics (BIOL 314)

Dr. William Eggleston received his Ph.D. in 1990 from The University of Wisconsin –Madison. Eggleston is a molecular geneticist interested in genome organization, homologous recombination, DNA repair and genome-wide mechanisms of reorganization and gene regulation.
