Admission to the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Individualized Track

To be eligible to apply to the BIS Program, prospective individualized track students must:
  • attend one orientation session (call in advance for an appointment)
  • have a goal that cannot be met by another degree program at VCU
  • have a minimum of 30 semester hours of college credit
  • have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and a VCU GPA of 2.0

The admissions process is simple. The prospective student meets with a BIS adviser and designs an interdisciplinary program which supports the student's goals. Once the university's application and supplemental BIS application are complete, the proposed plan is evaluated by an admissions and curriculum review committee comprised of VCU faculty. After admission to the program, the student follows an approved, finalized, individualized curriculum plan.
