
The Department of Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Physical Chemistry, to begin in fall 2008, contingent upon funding. Applications at the assistant professor level are preferred but any rank will be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a funded, nationally recognized research program, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in general and physical chemistry. The candidates’ research interests will strengthen the departments’ current initiatives in material science and chemical biology. All areas of physical chemistry will be considered but candidates with research related to these areas (nanomaterials and/or biophysical) and using ultrafast spectroscopy would be of interest. A Ph.D. in chemistry is required, and post-doctoral experience is desirable.
