- Students in undergraduate labs have priority for use during the scheduled lab times.
- Contact the facility manager, instrument TA, or facility director for training before using any departmental instrument.
- Be sure to fill out the applicable information on the log sheets located on the clipboard beside each instrument. Students in undergraduate labs should put the lab number in the comment section, as budget code information is not applicable. (i.e. L 304)
- The instruments in the facility may be reserved for use. This is done by contacting the facility manager the day and time of desired use. Please be on time as the instrument will be held for 15 minutes only and will then be available for another user.
- All user solutions and samples must be removed from the facility at the conclusion of the experiment. Any experimental set-up in the facility must be cleared with the manager and labeled appropriately, with contact information of the user, lab, date and the chemical in use.
- Gloves worn for sample preparation must be removed before using any instrument computer.
- The door needs to remain closed and locked if the room is unoccupied.
- Notify the instrumentation manager or responsible faculty immediately in case of accidents or problems with an instrument.
- Eye protection must be worn at all times.
- Neither eating nor drinking will be permitted in the instrument facility at any time.
- All workstations must be left neat, clean and cleared of all chemicals, vials, weigh papers, garbage, writing implements, etc.
