Kapp Lecture

The annual Mary E. Kapp lecture will be held on March 27, 2008. This year’s speaker is Professor Mark Meyerhoff from the University of Michigan with the lecture topic, “Electrochemical Sensors in Medicine: Meeting Needs for the 21st Century.” The lecture will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Kapp Lecture Hall (Oliver Hall 1024).

Chemical Biology Symposium

The 2nd Annual Chemical Biology Symposium will be held on April 4, 2008 on the MCV Campus at VCU. The symposium features speakers whose research touches the interface of chemistry and biology. The panel of speakers for 2008 will include Jon Thorson, University of Wisconsin; Phil Cole, Johns Hopkins University; and Kevin Weeks, University of North Carolina. Details will be available in early March.

POGIL workshop

A Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning in the Classroom and Laboratory (POGIL) workshop will be held on June 26-28, 2008. The workshop will focus on the implementation of POGIL in large classroom settings. The local host is Dr. Suzanne Ruder. This workshop is supported by the U.S. Department of Education through FIPSE (P116B060026).
