Curriculum

The degree tracks allow students to focus on different aspects of chemistry, depending on their specific interests. The tracks include chemical science, professional chemist, professional chemist with honors, chemical modeling and biochemistry. These options provide different avenues for students interested in a wide range of potential careers. These include medicine, dentistry, veterinary studies, pharmacy, chemical research, quality control, pharmacy sales, teaching, biochemical research and pharmaceutical research, as well as many others. Click on each track for the specific degree requirements and brief descriptions. 

Eligible students completing an undergraduate degree in a different major have the option to receive a minor in chemistry. All required 300-level chemistry courses must be taken at VCU in order to achieve the chemistry minor. A cumulative 2.0 grade-point average on the minor is required (transfer and VCU). In addition, a cumulative 2.0 grade-point average on VCU chemistry courses is required.
