Professional chemist track

This track gives students the ideal preparation for graduate studies in chemistry and closely related fields, as well as excellent training for those seeking employment in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry after graduation. Specific degree requirements appear in the chart below.

CHEM 510 Atomic and Molecular Structure
CHEM/MEDC 310 Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design
CHEM/EGRC 306 Industrial Applications of Inorganic Chemistry
   
1 49 Chemistry credits and 21 credits other requirements.
2 Students must take the chemistry placement test. CHEM 100 is offered for students who lack preparation for CHEM 101 and does not count toward the 37 credits needed for the chemistry degree.
3 Students must take the math placement test. Depending on the results, the student may be placed in the MATH 151 prior to enrolling in MATH 200.
  Professional chemist majors meet their general education statistics requirement in their chemistry classes.
4 Courses required for American Chemical Society certification.
