Community engagement report

A committee from the College of Humanities and Sciences reviewed its work with the community to look for potential enhancements and ways to continue to build upon our foundation of community service. These results, including descriptions of current and past community work, were published in the committee’s report
.
The committee noted that there were five areas in which our faculty and units are heavily engaged in ongoing work with the community, including:
- K-12 Education
- The intersection of culture and well-being
- Community safety
- Family, individual and community well-being
- Effective leadership and governance
These collaborative efforts support VCU’s overall commitment to work in the community as described in Theme V of VCU 2020, VCU’s strategic plan. Our efforts within the College are coordinated with the Division of Community Engagement and its Office of Community Solutions, which offer an excellent directory of programs and support services.
