Glenn Duncan Scholarship for Sociology

The Glenn Duncan Scholarship for Sociology is gifted each year by alumnus Glenn Duncan (B.S. Sociology ’04; M.S. Brandcenter ’06). The scholarship recipient is selected by the department.
Excellence in Virginia Government Awards Scholarship*

The Excellence in Virginia Government Awards Scholarship is established through proceeds from the annual Excellence in Virginia Government Awards ceremony, which celebrates the achievements of public servants in Virginia. The EVGA scholarships are given in honor of the Lifetime Achievement Award winner for the preceding year. The scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students in the Wilder School.
Leigh E. Grosenick Scholarship in Public Administration
Amount: As determined by VCU Foundation distribution policy
Deadline: Feb. 1
Leigh E. Grosenick, Ph.D., was instrumental in founding VCU’s public administration program in 1975 and served as its first director. Family, friends and colleagues of Leigh E. Grosenick established the scholarship following his premature death in December 1999. The scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving graduate student in the public administration program.
Eva S. Hardy Scholarship in Public Administration
Amount: As determined by VCU Foundation distribution policy
Deadline: Feb. 1
Eva S. Hardy established this scholarship, which is awarded to a student in the Master of Public Administration program who is a representative of a previously underserved population. The award is merit-based and renewable.
James Hooker Memorial Scholarship
Amount: As determined by VCU Foundation distribution policy
Deadline: Feb. 1
This scholarship was established in 2006 by friends and faculty colleagues of James Hooker, former professor of criminal justice and public safety studies. The scholarship is available to undergraduate or graduate students who have completed six hours in a program of study in either criminal justice or public safety. A minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher in those courses is required.
John Marlles Scholarship*

The John Marlles Scholarship is awarded to a graduate student in the Master’s of Urban and Regional Planning program in the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs.
ICMA – T. Edward Temple Scholarship in Public Administration
Amount: As determined by VCU Foundation distribution policy
Deadline: Feb. 1
This scholarship is in memory of T. Edward Temple, a former Richmond city manager and president of VCU. It was created by the Intercity Management Association. It is awarded to a graduate student in the public administration program who is a resident of Virginia and committed to working in Virginia local government. The award is based on financial need, academic achievement and career promise.
VCPA – T. Edward Temple Scholarship
Amount: As determined by VCU Foundation distribution policy
Deadline: Feb. 1
Named for former VCU president T. Edward Temple, this scholarship was established in 1989 by the Virginia Citizen Planning Association. It is awarded to the second-year graduate student with the best academic record in urban studies and planning.
Tillett Scholarship in Government and Public Affairs

The Tillett Scholarship in Government and Public Affairs was established by the Honorable Ronald L. Tillett (B.S. ’79) and his wife. The scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate student majoring in a degree program offered by the Wilder School.
