The VCU Department of English has twice hosted meetings of the Victorians Institute, an interdisciplinary scholarly organization (1989 and 1999) and the Victorians Institute Journal, a refereed scholarly annual, was edited and published here from 1999–2010 by David Latané with editorial colleagues at University of Richmond and the College of William and Mary.

David Latané will continue to work with the journal as its “Texts” section—featuring newly edited and previously unpublished material from nineteenth–century archives—is expanded through the NINES interface at the University of Virginia, and he serves as Treasurer and webmaster for the Victorians Institute.
