VCU professor honored by the Women’s Caucus for Political Science

M. Njeri Jackson, Ph.D., special assistant for diversity in the Office of the Provost and associate professor in the Department of African American Studies and the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University, received the 2008 Women of Color Professional Achievement Recognition Award from the Women’s Caucus for Political Science.
The award was presented during the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association, held in Boston.

International partnerships bring three visiting faculty members to VCU

Eliete Sampaio Farneda, Pedro Poyato Sanchez and Hong “Michelle” Zhang hail from different corners of the globe, but the international faculty members are currently teaching at VCU as part of the university’s collaborations with 14 universities around the world.
Relationships formed through the partnerships are supported by the Office of International Education and the School of World Studies.

Jeffrey C. South received the University Distinguished Teaching Award after teaching in the VCU School of Mass Communications for the past 11 years.
David C. Wojahn, director of VCU’s Creative Writing program in the Department of English, received the University Distinguished Scholarship Award at Convocation. Wojahn was also presented the Carol Weinstein Poetry Prize at the annual Library of Virginia awards celebration.
