Dr. Christina Turner was a cherished instructor with a particular passion for improving the writing skills of her students. Many students have thanked Turner for her help with making them better critical thinkers and writers.
Her research focused on rural communities in Latin America. She was a Fulbright Scholar and editor on the Middle American Council of Latin American Studies essays from 2003-06. Her interest in Latin American rural communities had been prompted by her service in Paraguay with the Peace Corps.

Dr. John Mahoney

Dr. John Mahoney
Associate professor of Psychology
December 2007
Dr. John Mahoney was a dedicated and challenging instructor, teaching upwards of 500 students each semester in his Introduction to Psychology and Personality Psychology classes. He was the kind of professor who made a deep impression on students and who they remember after graduation. His research interests featured a general concern with individual differences as assessed by different theoretical models, with his initial focus on pure theory. In recent years, he became more focused on forensic psychology and applied aspects of political behavior.
Mahoney was a strong advocate of traditional academic and educational values and performed extensive service with the College Library Committee, where he was a supporter of enhancements to the university library system. Mahoney was a senior member of the VCU Department of Psychology and his friendship, congeniality and individuality will be missed.
A memorial scholarship is established in his honor and donations can be made payable to the VCU Foundation. Note “John Mahoney Scholarship” in the memo portion of the check. Please mail contributions to the attention of Lois Badey, Director of Development, College of Humanities and Sciences, P.O. Box 842019, Richmond, VA 23284-2019.
