Welcome
Dear College alumni and friends,
On behalf of the College of Humanities and Sciences, I extend to you our best wishes for the New Year.
The College — and indeed, all of VCU — continues to experience tremendous growth and change. A milestone in our history was the celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the university. Additionally, the University Student Commons marks its 25th Anniversary in January 2009.
Although the economic climate presents numerous challenges for all of us at VCU, the positive momentum that has developed over the past decade has laid a strong foundation for our faculty and students. We look forward to the next 40 years and beyond.
I hope you will always take pride in your VCU education, and I encourage you to participate in the many events and programs offered to alumni through the College of Humanities and Sciences and the VCU Alumni Association.
The following highlights of the past semester are a positive reflection of the College’s students and its faculty. I hope you enjoy these stories of success. I look forward to seeing you soon.
Best regards,
Fred M. Hawkridge, Ph.D., Interim Dean
