Virginia Commonwealth University Honor System

For detailed information concerning honor code violations, please consult the VCU Honor System section of the Student Resource Guide. In its statement of philosophy, this document says: “Virginia Commonwealth University recognizes that honesty, truth and integrity are values central to its mission as an institution of higher education.” Violations include, but are not limited to, cheating (as in copying from another student's test), plagiarizing, facilitating academic dishonesty (as in the unauthorized assistance of another student during an exam), abusing academic materials (as in destroying academic materials and rendering them unavailable for common use), stealing academic materials and lying as related to academic matters.

Students who become aware of honor violations should contact the class instructor. Instructors who witness or become aware of honor violations should contact one of the two honor system coordinators for the College of Humanities and Sciences: Dr. Elliott Banks (School of Government and Public Affairs) or Dr. David Bauer (Department of Statistics and Operations Research).
