SPANISH FILM FESTIVAL
...luces...cámara....¡acción!

Saturday, February 23
7-10 p.m.
Business Building 2115

Our second film is English director Ken Loach’s Tierra y Libertad/Land and Freedom. The film lasts for 109 minutes, is in English and Spanish, and is partially subtitled. All films are, of course, free to the public.

This award-winning film offers the drama of extraordinary passion and unflinching reality. The film follows British activist David as he aligns with an international band of revolutionaries fighting Franco’s rise to power. David journeyed to Spain to struggle for land and freedom. He didn’t know that the real battle would be fought in his heart.

Foreign Language on Stage
Thursday, March 21, 2002

Live drama on stage in Spanish, French German and other languages--Foreign Languages on Stage is a unique opportunity for high school teachers to put to use the Virginia Standards of Language (SOL) aquisition at different levels, whether students are participants or spectators to the event. As spectators, students will be exposed to the target language in a way that will make it possible for them to identify some customs and traditions of the Spanish, French or German speaking worlds. As participants, the students have the opportunity to stage a play or a short story, and to share their endeavors will other fellow students and with the community at large.
