Education
William Eggleston received his bachelor’s degree
in biology, with a minor in chemistry, from Duke University
and his doctoral degree in genetics from the University
of Wisconsin–Madison.
Professional experience
Eggleston is chair of the Virginia Commonwealth
University Department of Forensic Science and associate
professor of
forensic science and biology. He is active in national
and university organizations, such as the Genetics
Society of America and VCU’s Center for the Study of Biological
Complexity, as well as VCU’s Molecular Biology
and Genetics Program.
Professional accomplishments
He has served on numerous in the Department of Forensic Science, the
Department of Biology, the College of Humanities and Sciences, and the
university and recently was awarded the 2004-2005 Faculty of the Year award
by the Department of Biology.
Dr. Eggleston has published in several academic journals and has several
manuscripts in the works. He currently has research funding from the
National Science Foundation to identify and study genes involved in
recombination in maize and previously has received funding from the U.S.
Department of Agriculture, Jeffress Memorial Trust Foundation, American
Cancer Society and VCU's College of Humanities and Sciences.
