General education

The courses listed in the bulletin have variable credit; however, no Girl in the labfewer than 36 hours will be required to meet the general education requirements. The number of general electives a student takes will depend on the number of general education credits taken. Students will select courses from the approved lists found in the VCU Undergraduate Bulletin and on the Graduation Worksheet:

2008 - 2009 General Education Requirements

Box 1:
  UNIV 111 & 112  Focused Inquiry I and II (6 credits)
  ENGL 200 (3 credits)
  Writing Intensive requirements are met in the major

Box 2:   Mathematics requirements are met in the major

Box 3:   Human, Social, and Political Behavior (3 credits)

Box 4:   Science and Technology (3-4 credits)
  (FRSC 201 does not fulfill this requirement)

Box 5:   Diverse and Global Communities (3 credits)

Box 6:   Literature and Cibilization (3 credits)
  (PHIL 201 is required for FOS majors)

Box 7:   General Education Electives
  (Choose 2 additional courses from boxes 3, 4, 5, or 6)

Box 8:  
  Experiencing the Fine Arts (1-3 credits)
  HUMS 202  Choices in a Consumer Society (1 credit)
  Computer Literacy Requirement
