Forensic Science Graduate Seminar Series
The Department of Forensic Science's FRSC 570 Forensic Science Graduate Seminar serves a dual purpose.
First,
it is a forum at which forensic science graduate
students present the results of their independent
study or
internship
projects and experiences in a professional setting.
Second, graduate students use
the seminar series to invite forensic science professionals
to speak about their work
and
research — providing
students with the opportunity to learn about the
most recent advances,
as well as exposing them to topics that may not receive
in-depth coverage during classes.
Recent talks have included
“Murder by Poison,” presented by Dr. Al Poklis a
toxicologist at the VCU Medical Center, “Event
Data Recorders – Vehicle Black Boxes – Add a New
Dimension to Crash Reconstruction,” presented by
Robert Breitenbach, director of the VCU
Transportation Safety Training Center and
“Automation of Forensic Science DNA Casework:
Present and Future Applications,” presented by Dr.
Susan Greenspoon of the Virginia Department of
Forensic Science.
