A reception from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. will follow in the School of Business.

Free and Open to the Public

The VCU Annual International Business Forum is one of our preeminent events. Its objective is to bring our students, faculty and business community together to learn and interact with noted leaders with expertise in a particular area of global business.

This year's 8th Annual International Business Forum will focus on the topic of global business and America's influence on culture around the world. The central objective is to have a discussion concerning the impact (positive and negative) of U.S. cultural exports (again, film, advertising, etc.) on other societies around the world. This theme would appear to be very appropriate given the recent events of September 11, 2001 and the global discussion concerning why some people are highly anti-American, while others embrace us and our culture.

Panelists who are currently scheduled to participate in the forum include:

Mr. Dick Robertson, President Domestic Television Distribution, AOL Time Warner. Mr. Robertson, a VCU alumni, has extensive experience and responsibility for the world-wide distribution of culturally popular and much watched American television shows (e.g. "Friends") and films.

Mr. David Bell, Vice Chairman,The Interpublic Group of Companies (the world's largest marketing communications and services company, operating in 81 countries). Mr. Bell has extensive experience and responsibility for the world-wide promotion/advertising of American (and other) products and services.

Dr. Vishaka Desai, Senior Vice President, Director of the Museum and Cultural Programs, Asia Society. Dr. Desai is responsible for the development of special exhibitions, performances, films and lecture programs about all aspects of Asian art and culture. Her insights into cultural interactions around the globe are well documented.

Invitations have been extended to other prominent speakers also, and will be announced in the near future.
