International Studies Minors
International
Studies minors were revised effective in the Spring
2002. Students who were registered and
began a Minor in International Studies prior to
Spring 2002 may choose to complete their studies
under the old International
Studies Minors guidelines.
Students
may select one of the following options:
Global Studies
Minor. Students may focus on the
Arts in Global Perspective, International Institutions
and Globalization, International Relations, or
Social Relations in International Perspective.
Area Studies Minor.
Students may focus on African Studies, Asian Studies,
Latin American Studies, Middle Eastern Studies,
Russian and East European Studies, or Western
European Studies.
Native American
Studies Minor.
Students examine the complexity of colonization
by focusing on a range of cultural, artistic,
social, and historical issues that confront the
indigenous peoples of the Americas.

Certificate
Program in International Management Studies. Offered jointly
by the VCU School of Business and the College
of Humanities & Sciences.
International management, foreign languages, and
European studies combine in a unique program intended
to equip students for careers in international
business.
Advising
information
International
Studies faculty provide general advice to students,
makes referrals for advising depending on the
chosen track or area minor, works closely with
faculty in appropriate departments who are responsible
for a particular track or minor, and provides
the final approval to certify that the minor has
been completed.

approved lists of courses for the various minors

EDUCATION ABROAD
Each
of the minors urges student participation in a
study abroad program wherever possible. All students
who meet eligibility requirements for federal
financial aid are permitted to use this assistance
in approved study abroad programs. All reasonable
costs associated with study abroad programs may
be incorporated into the determination of financial
aid eligibility. For more information about study
