International Studies Minors

International Studies minors were revised effective in the Spring 2002. Students who were registered and began a Minor in International Studies prior to Spring 2002 may choose to complete their studies under the old International Studies Minors guidelines.

Students may select one of the following options:

Global Studies Minor.  Students may focus on the Arts in Global Perspective, International Institutions and Globalization, International Relations, or Social Relations in International Perspective.

Area Studies Minor. Students may focus on African Studies, Asian Studies, Latin American Studies, Middle Eastern Studies, Russian and East European Studies, or Western European Studies.

Native American Studies Minor. Students examine the complexity of colonization by focusing on a range of cultural, artistic, social, and historical issues that confront the indigenous peoples of the Americas.

Advising information

International Studies faculty provide general advice to students, makes referrals for advising depending on the chosen track or area minor, works closely with faculty in appropriate departments who are responsible for a particular track or minor, and provides the final approval to certify that the minor has been completed.

All relevant information about the minors, including approved lists of courses for the various minors and tracks, is available on this Website.

EDUCATION ABROAD

Each of the minors urges student participation in a study abroad program wherever possible. All students who meet eligibility requirements for federal financial aid are permitted to use this assistance in approved study abroad programs. All reasonable costs associated with study abroad programs may be incorporated into the determination of financial aid eligibility.
