Strategic Public Relations

Graduates of the fast-track executive master's degree in strategic public relations are a new generation of communications professionals who are able to function at the highest levels of management and apply sophisticated strategic thinking to accomplish organizational objectives.

  • The selective professional program is 30 credit hours, including approved elective courses in areas such as nonprofit management, environmental policy or global marketing management.
  • Courses are taught by experienced high-level professionals.   
  • Students take weekend classes as a cohort during three semesters (summer, fall and spring). Continued full-time public relations employment is encouraged during the program.
  • Admission requirements include academic background in public relations (university or accreditation program) and appropriate public relations experience. Applicants also need to take the Graduate Records Examinations (GRE) General Test. Learn more about the GRE now, and see a list of GRE testing centers.
  • Tuition and fees for 30-hour program is $27,780 Virginia resident; $27,900 non-resident.
  • Classes for the 2007-2008 cohort began July 6, 2007 and the students will graduate on May 17, 2008.
  • Classes for the 2008-2009 cohort will begin July 18, 2008 and students will graduate the following summer 2009 after completion of MASC 683 (Strategic PR in the Global Environment) and the optional international tour in China.
