Petition to major
As detailed in the Student Handbook, the Mass Comm program is divided into two parts:
- the pre-major, in which you complete basic and introductory program courses and most of your general education requirements, and
- the major, in which you choose a Mass Comm sequence (advertising-creative, advertising-strategic, print journalism, broadcast journalism or public relations) and complete the course work necessary to fulfill program requirements.
Students must submit a petition to major in Mass Communications. Begin the process by downloading the Petition to Major form.
At the start of each semester, the school will announce a deadline for applying for the major for the following semester. Students are strongly encouraged to submit their petitions well before the deadline to allow for processing and to be able to register early.
