Material on Exam

The Final is comprehensive, and will cover Chapters 1-14, 16, exclusive of the material to told you in class that you are not responsible for.

Layout of the Exam

The Exam will consist of Seven (7) story problems, worth 25 points each. Three of the problems will come from Chapters 12-16. Each problem will consist of multiple parts (e.g A, B, C, etc..), with the general wording and format identical to the midterm exams and recitation problems. You will almost always be asked how you are going to approach solving a problem and to draw some sort of a picture or free-body diagram. The Exam is NOT open book! Don’t forget your Calculator!

Formula Sheet

Both sides of one 8.5"x11" sheet of paper. Do NOT Xerox copy homework solutions or other materials onto the sheet. You can handwrite anything you want. The formula sheet will be turned in with Exam.

The Final Exam can count either 24% or 40% towards your final grade in the class. See the Syllabus for more information.

Advice

  • Start Studying NOW!
  • Level of difficulty: Somewhere between Exam I and Exam II
  • Know how to work all Homework Problems, Recitation Problems, WSG problems
  • Go through the Checkpoint Questions in each Chapter to test your knowledge
  • No curve balls (i.e. problems will be straightforward)
