Welcome to the VCU Physics Department homepage!
Here you can find information about people in our department, their research and teaching interests, and our undergraduate and graduate programs. The primary research area in this department centers around experimental and theoretical condensed matter physics and nanoscience, and extends to related interdisciplinary areas. We have faculty studying nanostructures, atomic clusters, cluster-assembled materials, semiconductor defects and surfaces, spintronic materials, biophysics and biomaterials, and even gravitational theory and cosmology. For undergraduates, we offer the Bachelor of Science degree and a unique double major with the School of Engineering. Our graduate students pursue either the M.S. degree in Physics, the Ph.D. in Chemical Physics in collaboration with the department of Chemistry, or the Ph.D. in Medical Physics in collaboration with the departments of Radiology and Radiation Oncology. As a relatively small department, we enjoy excellent contact between our professors and students. If you have any questions, please contact me.
