Second Annual Physics Faculty-Student Mixer Pizza Party


The Society of Physics Students sponsored the Second Annual Physics Faculty-Student Mixer Pizza Party on Friday, September 24, in the student commons. The even was open to all Physics majors, Physics minors, and Physics/Engineering double majors. It was a place to come eat pizza, drink soda, and get to know the physics faculty and other students in the  department.

The Mixer was held in the Students Commons, and about 50-60 students & faculty attended Plenty of pizza, as well as chips, snacks, and drinks were to be had.

The main purpose was to get faculty & Students to sit down and talk to each other. Here Dr. Baski talks with two potential physics majors. Dr. Khanna & Dr. Rao discuss their work in cluster physics with students.

Dr. Bishop discusses her recent work on photonic band structure. Andrew Austin and Leila Grahm talk about upcoming SPS events

Dr. Gowdy, Chair of the Department of Physics, welcoming everyone to the event. Dr. Baski talked about the undergraduate program, with particular emphasis on the Physics/Engineering Double Major & Minor

Dr. Carlisle played the role of master of ceremonies, and talked about research opportunities in the department

Leila finally gets some pizza.
