Assessments

The Center for Psychological Services and Development offers opportunities to help you explore where you are and where you would like to be, whether assessing your career interests, or your psychological or educational needs.

Career counseling and assessment
Individual and group career counseling are offered for assistance with changing careers, assessing occupational interest and life planning. Career testing is often combined with counseling. Self-exploration helps to identify careers suited to one’s personal interests, personality and skills. (Therapists here may work in cooperation with VCU’s Career Center, which can provide additional resources that assure comprehensive service.)

Psychological and educational assessment
The CPSD welcomes referrals for psychological evaluation and other assessment batteries from individuals, mental health professionals, schools, physicians, and parents. Therapists choose among a variety of assessment instruments depending on the referral question. Some of the techniques include objective and projective personality tests, intellectual and achievement tests, and behavioral assessments.
