Welcome to the Center for Psychological Services and Development Web site. The CPSD was established in 1984 as a training facility for advanced counseling and clinical psychology doctoral students. These doctoral students work closely with their licensed faculty supervisors in integrating established psychotherapy skills and the most current research in their discipline to provide you with the best possible treatment. CPSD supervisors have years of practice and research experience in their fields of expertise.
In addition to training psychological professionals, the goals of the CPSD are to provide a range of psychotherapeutic and assessment services to the community. Our services are always delivered in a spirit of partnership between the greater Richmond community and Virginia Commonwealth University.
Services are available to individuals of all backgrounds and ages- from toddlers to seniors- to couples and families of all types. At the CPSD, you can expect the best care with a sliding scale fee to match your income. After submitting an application, a CPSD assistant director will contact you to learn more about your needs and goals. If it is determined that our services can be of use, you may then be contacted by a staff therapist to schedule an initial appointment, or intake session, at the CPSD. At that time, you and your therapist will begin to determine the major issues you would like to explore, and goals for your treatment. Such issues often include learning disabilities, career conflicts, phobias, depression and anxiety, relationship challenges, co-parenting and other stressors. Under regular supervision by a licensed psychologist/faculty member, your therapist will work with you to develop a treatment plan to work towards your treatment goals.
For more information about our services, feel free browse our Web site. We look forward to working with you soon.
Sincerely,
Leticia Y. Flores, Ph.D.
