Research interests

The McLeod lab is currently engaged in research designed to promote understanding of how psychotherapy reduces dysfunction and promotes mental health in youth. We are interested in using knowledge gained from our research to improve the quality of mental health care in community-based service settings. Current research projects include: (a) Identifying the effective and ineffective elements of non-manualized psychotherapy delivered in community based settings; (b) Understanding how the child- and parent-therapist alliance promotes positive youth outcomes in psychotherapy; (c) Understanding the barriers that impede child and parent engagement in psychotherapy; and (d) Understanding how treatment integrity influences child outcomes in clinical trials.
