Program Admission Requirements
Students possessing a B.A. or B.S. degree with an overall undergradaute G.P.A. of 3.0 are eligible for admission into the certificate program. Relevant course or practical experience will be considered in evaluating admission and substitution of courses. No more than six hours of substitution or equivalency credit will be granted. The application process is explained below for the 2 categories of applicants: 1) those applying to the CGVI as well as another graduate program at VCU, and 2) those applying for the certificate-only.

1. Students applying to the CGVI in conjunction with another Graduate Program at VCU:

You must complete and submit a separate graduate school application for the CGVI, noting the GVI as the degree sought (online application linked below).

All supporting documentation (e.g. transcripts, letters of reference, application fee) can be waived if you have already submitted that documentation and fee with the application to the other graduate program.

*You should indicate with your application to the graduate school that your supporting documentation and fee have been submitted with another graduate program application, specifying the program and date of submission.

You must write a letter of intent, explaining your interest in the CGVI, relevant background experiences, and future career goals. You can mail this letter directly to the program coordinator, Gay Cutchin (contact information on Certificate Home page).

2. Students applying to the CGVI only:

You must complete and submit a graduate school application for the CGVI, noting the GVI as the degree sought (online application linked below).

You must pay the $50 application fee, and submit all supporting documentation (e.g. transcripts, letters of reference) with the EXCEPTION of GRE scores, as this requirement has been waived for certificate-only students.

You must write a letter of intent, explaining your interest in the CGVI, relevant background experiences, and future career goals. You can mail this letter directly to the program coordinator, Gay Cutchin (contact information on Certificate Home page).

Application Process
Complete and submit an application to the Graduate School (linked below), noting the Certificate in Gender Violence Intervention as the degree sought. Students applying to both a graduate program at VCU and the CGVI program must complete 2 separate application forms, one for each degree.
