Condit joined the VCU faculty in 1994, on joint-appointment as Associate Professor of Political Science in the Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs and in the Women's Studies Program. She completed her Ph.D. in political science at Rutgers University in Political Science, with expertise in feminist political theory, public law and women and politics. She worked for several years at the Center for American Woman and Politics. Dr. Condit’s research interests include women and politics, body politics, gender and ethics in the politics of reproduction (including topics such as fetal rights, pregnancy and other reproductive rights) and the politics of reproductive technologies and genetics. She is particularly interested in questions about reproductive alternatives. Her most recent publications include articles on sex, gender, equality and genetics in the journals Sex Roles, Rhetoric and Public Affairs, and the Journal of Medical Humanities. Many of her courses bridge Women’s Studies and Political Science, including Feminist Theory; Women and American Politics; Women and Global Politics; Women and the Law; The Politics of Reproductive Technologies; and Gender Politics in Popular Culture. Dr. Condit recently taught the Women’s Studies Senior Topical Seminar on “Feminism and Motherhood.”
