John M Quillin, PhD,
MPH, MS, CGC

Quillan is currently Assistant Professor, Department of Human Genetics, and a member of the Massey Cancer Center, VCU. Dr Quillin conducts research, teaches, and provides clinical service centered on hereditary cancer, cancer prevention behaviors, and health decision-making. He received a B.A. in Biology and Religious Studies from the University of Virginia in 1997. He received a Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling in 1999 from VCU and a Masters in Public Health in 2004, and a doctorate in Human Genetics (Quantitative track) in 2005. He is certified in genetic counseling through the American Board of Genetic Counseling (1999) and holds a certificate in Familial Cancer Risk Counseling through the Institute of Clinical Evaluation. He has a wide range of academic interests including cancer risk assessment, risk communication, decision-making in the face of uncertainty and spiritual beliefs, and improving public health through advances in genetics. Dr Quillin is also a member of the Clinical Services Committee of VCU’s Institute for Women’s Health.
