Eaves is a Distinguished Professor of Human Genetics, VCU, and co-Director of the Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics (VIPBG). Dr. Eaves obtained his Ph.D. and D.Sc. in genetics from the University of Birmingham, England. He holds the James Shields award, the Paul Hoch Award from the American Psychopathological Association and the Dobzhansky Award from the Behavior Genetics Association. He served as President of the Behavior Genetics Association in 1991 and President of the International Society for Twin Studies from 1993-1995. Dr Eaves is one of the most cited researchers in the world (ISI) and is recognized as a world leader in the development of genetic models and statistical methodology useful in delineating the roles of genetic and environmental factors on variation observed in quantitative traits. He has been responsible for developing genetic models that have been useful in elucidating the mechanisms by which genetic and environmental influences might operate on developmental traits. Dr. Eaves is an Episcopal Priest and priest-in residence at St. Thomas’ Church in Richmond, Virginia. He served on the Presiding Bishop task force on Science, Technology and Faith.
