The purpose of general education courses in the College of
Humanities and Sciences is to provide a foundation for lifelong
learning for its students. This foundation includes the acquisition
of information, the capacity and the propensity to engage
in inquiry and critical thinking, the use of various forms
of communication, an awareness of the diversity of human experience,
an understanding of the natural world, and an appreciation
of the responsibilities of people to themselves, to others
and to the community.
