Admissions



Applicants to the Master of Urban and Regional Planning Program must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. In addition, applicants must have a 2.7 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) in their last 60 hours of undergraduate work. For admission to the Master of Urban and Regional Planning program, a candidate should score at least 50 percent rank on both the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE, or equivalent scores on the LSAT or GMAT. Applicants with a somewhat lower GPA or with somewhat lower scores on the GRE may be considered for provisional admission.

Application Deadlines:

Fall Semester: April 1* (March 1 for merit-based scholarship/assistantship consideration. Please visit VCU Office of Fianacial Aid for need-based financial aid opportunities)

Spring Semester: October 1*

*These deadlines are designed to allow sufficient time for application review and admission proceessing. Applications may be submitted after the deadline; however, we cannot guarantee sufficient time for processing. Any application submitted too late for current semester processing will be considered for the following semester. Please contact the program coordinator with specific application questions.

Dual MURP/JD information

Students interested in the dual degree program must fill out the above admissions form for VCU as well as apply for admission to the T. C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond.
