Getting Involved in the School of World Studies

There are several avenues available for the alumnus who wishes to continue his or her involvement with the School of World Studies.  Below are just a few of the options available.  If you are interested in any of these opportunities or would like more information, please contact Virginia Casanova.

Alumni Events – Throughout the year, World Studies will sponsor alumni events, such as the May Terrace Reception, specifically designed for alumni to get reacquainted with the school, faculty and each other.  Alumni are always welcome at our regular school events and often a special invitation will be extended to provide opportunities for you to meet some of our current students.  Alumni can also get involved in planning and hosting our events.

Alumni Council – We are interested in forming an Alumni Council as a way for our alums to remain engaged with what we're doing here in World Studies and to help us better plan and build our future.  This is also a wonderful avenue for networking with other alumni.

Alumni Newsletter and Webpage – Two other avenues for remaining in touch with the School and other alumni, these new ventures would benefit from alumni input.  We want to build them to serve your needs.

Mentoring a senior – A wonderful way to help seniors make that transition into the “real” world is through contact with you!  We would like to start a regular tradition of “Take a Senior to Lunch”, and perhaps have other events where seniors and alumni can connect.

World Studies Student Research Conference – One of the Hallmark events for the School, this venue provides students the opportunity to showcase the research they have been working on either independently or through class projects.  It is also the perfect opportunity for alumni to see what students are working on these days, either by attending the event or agreeing to chair a panel.  Chairing involves moderating the presentations and leading the Q&A session.

Giving Opportunities – The School of World Studies currently offers 5 scholarship opportunities for its students.  Your contributions help to continue these scholarships and fund new ones.
