Office for Language and Cultural Competence

The Office for Language and Cultural Competence (OLCC) offers training programs, workshops, seminars, and presentations designed to introduce people to different cultures and assist them in becoming interculturally competent. OLCC works from a unique perspective which acknowledges the complex and systematic nature of cultural competence. Our intercultural communication training programs are designed to accomplish the following goals:

• Assist in overcoming cultural obstacles that can interfere with enjoyment of intercultural experiences
• Help accomplish job-oriented tasks in intercultural assignments
• Teach how to initiate and develop relationships with people from different cultures
• Assist in learning how to deal with the stress that often accompanies intercultural communication.
