Computer Proficiency Requirement
- Students in the School of World Studies must pass the Computer Proficiency Assessment or all of the following courses: INFO 160, 161, and 162 (totaling 3 credit hours) in order to graduate!
- Transfer students will be exempt from this requirement if they have completed equivalent course work at a previous institution. Note: the course work must appear on student transcript and be approved by an advisor.
- The assessment is taken online and may be completed at any time, as many times as it takes for a student to pass.
- Students may locate the assessment by entering their myVCU page, and on the left-hand column of screen under Single Sign-On Links selecting the KnowledgeNet link. KnowledgeNet is currently being replaced by a similar program called SkillSoft. Check the following link: http://www.vcu.edu/cte/knowledgenet/faqs.htm
- A student may pass the assessment by receiving an 80% or better during their pre-quizzes. If a student does not receive an 80% or better on the pre-quizzes, he/she must complete ALL tutorials and test in order to fulfill the requirement.
- Students should print a copy of the screen displaying completion and passing of this assessment and submit it to their advisor. (Students may want to print a copy for personal records as well).
