                                  SWS Academic Advising

The School of World Studies advising office serves all SWS majors and minors with
various advising needs.  Our advising staff is knowledgeable and ready to aid
students in regard to course selection, study abroad, other experiential learning
opportunities, as well as, future career planning.  The main purpose of SWS advising
office is providing effective and consistent academic advising to facilitate successful
completion of degrees for all SWS students.

We strongly encourage students to schedule annual advising appointments in order
to remain on track for graduation and to facilitate schedule classes appropriate for
their major.

IMPORTANT

  • All SWS majors: Anthropology, Foreign Language, International Studies, and Religious Studies MUST complete the World Passport before their graduation applications can be processed. Students may have the Passport points recorded by bringing in legitimate documentation i.e. signatures of professors, fliers, ticket stubs, conference programs, etc. to the SWS Advising Office located at 817 West Franklin Street, Suite B-16 (804) 827-1111.
  • Important: Students graduating in the 2008 Summer commencement are only required to complete 60 points in the World Passport.  Any students graduating in Fall 2008 or beyond are required to complete the full 100 points in the World Passport.
  • Please contact the SWS Advising Office with concerns regarding World Passport point allocation, value, and requirements.
  • And don’t forget to make an appointment with your advisor early for Summer and Fall 2008 course planning!  To set up an appointment, please call 827-1111.
