Why study Hindi?

• Hndi is one of the most widely spoken language in the world.
• More than 180 million people in India regard Hindi as their mother tongue.
• Hindi Cinema (Bollywood) produces more films annually than any other film industry in the world.
• Hindi is part of the dialect continuum that includes Punjabi, Sindhi, Urdu, Gurajati, Marathi, Konkani, Oriya, Bengali, and Nepali.
• VCU's new partnership with The Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur and the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research will produce a wealth of opportunities for VCU students to study in India.
