Hindi, an official language of the second most populated nation, India, is spoken by nearly five-hundred million people and is the third most spoken language of the world.  As a developing nation, India is increasingly gaining economic importance in global trade.  Consequently, the United States State Department lists Hindi as a critical language.  With the language having great contemporary importance, communication with such an influential nation is essential in order to sustain international cooperation and stability.

International Relations, Economics, Diplomacy and Politics are all fields whose knowledge would be enhanced with an understanding of the Hindi language and Hindu culture as international government increases and developing nations rise to that forum.  One will find many careers with the knowledge of the Hindi language in both government and business.  Sustaining intercultural communication between India and the developed world will help to create a more balanced international society, government, and economy.
