A letter from our director…
It is my honor to serve as director of a dynamic community of students, staff and faculty known as the VCU School of World Studies. As many readers might know, the School of World Studies was founded four years ago, uniting programs in anthropology, international studies, foreign languages and religious studies with the interdisciplinary structure to address some of the most crucial topics of the new century, such as the impact of globalization on society, and how language, culture, and religion shape the ways that individuals find a place in their rapidly changing world.
We help our students acquire the knowledge base, communication skills and practical experience they need to function successfully across a variety of borders, and we are living proof of the importance of international education at VCU. And we have been busy!
I hope you’ll share our excitement for where we’re going and the contributions we’re making to VCU and our community. Please let us know how we can better serve you, our graduates, now that you are out in the world.
We look forward to hearing from you!
R. McKenna Brown, PhD.
Professor and Director, School of World Studies
