            The Richmond Peace Education Center is a peace and justice organization whose mission is to work for a just and peaceful community by promoting nonviolence locally and globally. We run six active programs: Conflict Resolution, the Richmond Youth Peace Project, Racial Justice Initiative, Public Forums and Collaborations focused on global and local peace issues, Eyes Wide Open-Virginia, and a Peace Essay Contest.
                                   
Intern Responsibilities:
Organize and support peace and justice programs, perform community and campus outreach and publicity, and assist with various office tasks including data entry, mailings, and
answering phones.

Language/Skill Requirements:
Strong communication and organizational skills, maturity, reliability, and a commitment to peace and justice. Some previous experience in community projects, activism, or office work preferred. 

Hours & Pay:            

    • Six to twenty hours per week, depending on availability and need. A set schedule is required, but the specific times will be worked out on an individual basis depending on the intern’s class schedule and RPEC staff and program schedules.
    • Volunteer Opportunity.  

Application Process:

    • Email a resumé and cover letter describing why you wish to work with the Richmond Peace Education Center. The resumé should include any relevant coursework, organizational, or activist experience, as well as any specialized skills. A phone or in-person interview will be conducted before an internship is offered.
