Andrew Sharp has taught a variety of courses at VCU, particularly in the areas of Islam and World Religions.  He also taught previously at the College of William and Mary.  His areas of specialization are Eastern Christianity, Islam, and Muslim-Christian relations.  His writings have appeared in the Oxford Dictionary of Islam and Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations and his manuscript, Orthodox Christians and Muslims in the Postmodern Age, is currently under review for publication by Brill (Leiden).  Andrew has also held positions in public administration, including work with Virginia’s Refugee Resettlement Program, and has participated in ecumenical and inter-religious activities, such as the Institute for Pastors and Pastoral Workers on Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations at Georgetown University.  He has traveled extensively, studied at Yarmouk University and the School of Oriental and African Studies, and lived abroad for short periods in England, France, Jordan, and Tanzania.
