A native of Neumarkt in Bavaria, Germany, Viktoria G.J. Krause received a Bachelor’s (Erstes Staatsexamen) of art education degree from the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Nürnberg, Germany. After teaching and researching for 2 years at E.T.A. Hoffmann Gymnasium in Bamberg, Germany she received a Master’s (Zweites Staatsexamen) of art education degree from the Bavarian government. Originally trained and registered as an art teacher, her interests in the German language and culture led her to sharing her love of the language as an Adjunct Instructor at VCU, where she has taught since March 2006.
She believes that learning another language is an excellent way for students to grow their understanding of world culture and provides a unique opportunity to reexamine their own thoughts and beliefs.  Her goal as a teacher is to motivate her students to embrace the German language and find joy in discovering a different culture.  Additionally she believes in emphasizing the importance of participation in the global community and the practical value that cultural awareness provides.
