Patricia Michelsen-King is a Federally-certified Spanish Court Interpreter who coauthored the Federal Spanish Interpreter and State Consortium Spanish Interpreter Test. She provides interpreting services to Federal and State Courts in a number of states across the country. Originally from Bogota, Colombia, Ms. Michelsen-King is well known throughout the United States as an interpreter trainer. She provides orientation and skills building training services for many Consortium-member states, educational programs for the judiciary and court personnel, and conference presentations at a number of national conferences. In addition to this, Ms. Michelsen-King is a rater supervisor for Consortium and Federal examinations. She has interpreted for Sandra Day O’Connor, Ruth Bader-Ginsburg, Antonin Scalia and Janet Reno. She has conducted conference interpreting for Domino, American Express, MasterCard, Ethyl Corporation and other Fortune 500 companies. She is on the Advisory Board of the American Bar Association for the Language Access in the Courts Project. Patricia Michelsen-King received her dual Masters Degree in Education and Psychology from the University of Aberdeen in Aberdeen, Scotland, and is currently teaching as a Collateral Instructor of Spanish/English Translation and Interpretation at Virginia Commonwealth University. |
