The Life Science and Religion Community Forum for Central Virginia seeks to present a range of scientific/medical and Religious/ethical perspectives to consider as participants explore developments in the life sciences through the prism of such questions as:

  • What is a human being?
  • How did we get here?
  • Why do we suffer and die?
  • What is truth, beauty and love?
  • What is health and what does it mean to be healthy?
  • How should we live?
  • What can we hope for?
  • What is the meaning of life?

Religious communities are raising serious questions — and providing various answers — about such things as the nature of family, about origins of good and evil, and the concept of sin and its place in a modern society. The life sciences and the social sciences also have answers to these questions. We believe this forum will lead the community in careful consideration of what sciences and faiths have to say about these matters.

As our forum develops, we will be highlighting members of the community who equally encompass both religion and science without conflict. Check back periodically for updates.
