The World Studies Media Center (WSMC) is a state-of-the-art academic support center that offers VCU students and faculty instructional media resources and services useful in exploring the modern world in its infinite linguistic and cultural complexity. Our philosophy of language learning is in line with lifelong learning. When choosing to learn a new language, one is essentially adopting the new language for life.

The WSMC offers a vast array of self-study applications such as Rosetta Stone, Tell Me More, Eurotalk and many other language learning programs. In addition, the WSMC houses an impressive collection of international films, documentaries and instructional videos, a state-of-the-art electronic language lab, and the latest design and development tools for presentation, multimedia production and web publishing. The WSMC encourages all teachers and students to enhance their language curricula with innovative media projects.

Every computer in the facility is equipped with powerful, user-friendly voice recording programs which produce high-quality audio-files in multiple formats. Technical and instructional support is always available in the Media Center for the language programs, applications and hardware offered. The WSMC staff strives to enrich the language and cultural instruction for all students and teachers.
